Cemented carbide wire drawing dies is a special and precision tool which cuts and forms sheet metal into a desired shape or profile. The cutting and forming sections of dies typically are made from special types of hard steel called tool steel. Dies also can contain cutting and forming sections made from carbide or various other hard, wear-resistant materials.

Carbide wire drawing dies usually consist of a core and a sleeve

1.Carbide wire drawing core

The wire drawing core is usually cylindrical with a tapered hole inside to guide the metal wire through and reduce its diameter. The shape and size of the hole are carefully designed, including the entrance area, lubrication area, working area, sizing area and exit area.

The entrance area usually adopts a larger taper angle to facilitate the smooth entry of the wire into the core. The function of the lubrication area is to provide lubricant during the drawing process to reduce friction and wear. The working area is the main part of the core, and its taper angle and length determine the size of the drawing force and the degree of deformation of the wire. The sizing area is used to accurately control the diameter of the wire, and the exit area helps the wire to leave the core smoothly, reducing scratches and deformation at the exit.

2.Carbide wire drawing sleeve

The design of the sleeve needs to take into account factors such as the matching accuracy with the core, heat dissipation performance, and installation method. Generally speaking, the inner diameter of the die sleeve is slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the die core, and the die core is installed in the die sleeve by hot mounting, cold mounting or press mounting.

During the manufacturing process, the die sleeve needs to be precisely processed to ensure its dimensional accuracy and surface quality. At the same time, heat treatment and surface treatment are also required to improve the strength, hardness and wear resistance of the die sleeve.


The combination of carbide wire drawing die and die sleeve can achieve efficient and high-precision metal wire drawing.
